1789 WEST GREENLAND KAYAK REPLICA
This replica is based on a kayak collected in 1789 by Scottish Whalers. The kayak is in the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow. It was built from a survey drawing I made in 1998; it has been published in Wooden Boat Magazine, Jan./Feb. 2003 (pg. 55, bottom), and in Kayaks of Greenland. This kayak measures 18'10-1/4" long, and 17-1/4" wide. The depth to sheer is 7".
